Intro to Beekeeping Workshop:
Join Josh Harris, owner of Queen & Colony Bee Co as he dives into everything you need to know to start your beekeeping journey. Attendees will learn the ins and outs of backyard beekeeping and observe a live hive as well. Everyone will walk away with lots of practical beekeeping knowledge! In this workshop we will go over the entire process of harvesting honey and how we get it from the hives to the jar. Participants will then get an interactive experience that will stimulate all the senses. The sticky and delicious process of uncapping honeycombs, spinning honey out of the frames with our small hand crank extractor, bottling honey and of course lots of honey tasting! Honey and cheese pairings will be included and everyone will get to take home their very own jar of honey that they harvest.

We're teaming up with The Pinellas Beekeepers Association We are excited to offer a new series of beekeeping workshops geared towards beginner to intermediate beekeepers. With over 15 years of experience keeping bees in the Tampa Bay area, Josh Harris of Queen & Colony Bee Co. will demonstrate the ins and outs of how he keeps his apiaries healthy and growing. These workshops are highly focused on specific skills in the apiary that will make for better beekeepers and healthier bees. Workshops will be limited to 15 attendees so everyone can get the best hands on and personal experience.

Our Honey Harvest is the event of the Fall for all bee and honey lovers! Our Beekeeper, Josh, from Queen & Colony will be demonstrating an in-depth look into how honey is harvested straight from the hive. Then, you'll get a chance to harvest some of your own honey to take home!
All while enjoying some honey-drizzled biscuits and coffee from our Bakery! This event will leave you buzzin!

Join us at Pete's Bagels as Josh from Queen & Colony takes you through an interactive experience of harvesting honey from start to finish. Not only will you go home with your own jar of the sweet stuff, but we will also have a charcuterie board complete with Pete's bagels, along with a new appreciation of honey bees and all the ins and outs that go into making the best locally made raw honey in Tampa Bay.

Learn about the fascinating honeybee and beekeeping! Join Queen & Colony Beekeeper, Josh Harris, as he shares his knowledge of honeybees and honey with you and your student, sample some delicious honeycomb and view a live observation hive. Producing quality cut comb honey is a bit of a lost skill in beekeeping and that is why comb honey is such a rare treat. In this class we will share some of the methods we use to produce cut comb honey with our bees, including:
Choosing colonies for comb production
Setting up frames and supers for cut comb production
Timing your nectar flow
Processing and Packaging your comb honey
As a bonus each participant will get to take home a fresh cut of comb honey.

Localtopia is presented by Keep Saint Petersburg Local, St Pete's Independence Alliance. The festival, founded in 2014, collectively celebrates all that makes St Pete great via its Arts, Food, Music and Culture. Queen and Colony will have a booth with our local raw honey, and hive products. Also we will be featuring an observation hive to educate and inform our community about honeybees.
